Creating Technical Packets

Technical packets are essential in the fashion industry because it contains all the information to construct a garment. This is what the technical packet looks like.

Tech packs include:
- Technical sketch of the garment
-Garment style number and descriptive name
-Information on shape of the garments silhouette, body length, sleeve length, neck shape dimensions, armhole type, and hem shape.
- Information on how the neck edge, cuff or armhole edge, bottom hem edge and possible vent edges are finished.
-Information if the garment has an inside lining or not.
-Information if the garment contains multiple fabric types, a back neck patch, foiled fabric, printed fabric, or if there are embellishments or embroideries on the garment.
-Bill of materials which includes the fabric the garment is made of, the placement of it, the fiber content, width of fabric to cut into, fabric weight, fabric color, and fabric price.
-Swatch of fabric
-How much it cost to make the garment.

-Garments pattern pieces laid out on the cuttable fabric width.

Sketch Ideations

Trends I Find Inspiring!

After researching the main trend details for Spring/Summer 2015 I have chosen 3 details that will connect the garments in my collection.

I choose the asymmetrical trend because I find asymmetry exciting.  It makes garments unique and eye-catching.

Criss cross necklines are intriguing and new. I have never made garments with a criss cross neckline before and I am excited to design into this trend.

Sheer detailing has started to become popular during this Summer, but I want to find innovative ways to incorporate sheer fabric in knit tops for Spring/Summer 2015.

Whats Trending?

After hours of trend researching I have learned many different garment details will be popular  in the Spring/Summer of 2015.  Here are several of my favorite ones.

"It's Not Where You Take Things From- It's Where You Take Them To"

When starting any collection for school I always begin by going to the major trend databases WGSN and Stylesight. These sights are a great source for fashion designers and companies because it provides what trends they think will be prominent in upcoming seasons, what colors will be trending, materials that are becoming more popular and always keeps up with the latest consumer market reports and runway shows.

After researching the Megatrend I connect the most to and feel the most inspired by is the Stylesight megatrend ‘Core’.  ‘Core’ is all about simple is sophisticated and beautiful. When I design I have enjoyed the simple but classic looks. I am inspired by modernism and I am excited to how I interpret this idea of ‘Core’ and make it my own in my collection.
